Navy Seal to Warrior Princess- A True Transgender Movement

Christopher Beck had been an active part of the Elite Special Forces as a Navy Seal for over 20 years and retired as a Senior Chief in 2011.  After fighting for everyone else's life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, Beck was finally ready to live life in true happiness, as a transgendered woman.

Beck had been hiding her true identity since grade school. She made a conscious decision to wait until she was done serving her time to come out as Kristin Beck in 2013, a year and a half after she retired from the military.

Beck knew that she would be ridiculed no matter when she decided to show her true identity and was definitely correct in that assumption. It is such a shame that someone who fought for our lives now had to fear for her own life every day. Many people are in support of Beck's life change but others are not, and unfortunately are not keeping their feelings to themselves. We hope that more people will be in support of her decision to follow her heart, because at the end of the day that is the best chance we have at true happiness.

CNN has done a documentary on Kristin Beck's new journey as a transgender woman. The film is called, "Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story". This documentary shows us what life was like as Christopher Beck, and how she transitioned into Kristin Beck. There are also exclusive interview's with Beck and her family, and of course their reaction to this shocking news.

"Lady Valor" will give you a true inside look on Beck's journey from Christopher to Kristin, and how she managed to keep her secret safe for so long. Don't miss this uplifting story. "Lady Valor" will premier on CNN on September 4th 9/11 PM EST.

It is now Beck's time to live a fulfilling, prosperous life as her true self,  Kristin Beck.

A Guide to Make-Up Brushes and Their Many Uses

Have you ever opened up a pack of makeup brushes and wonder why they give you so many similar looking brushes ? I know I have, which is why having this guide to make-up brushes and their many uses will help you remember what you should be using each brush for when getting ready to apply your make-up. The reason why they give you so many is that although they look the same they are actually all different sizes and shapes, each one serving a different purpose. Using the correct brush will make all the difference in applying your make-up.

All of the make-up brushes pictured throughout this blog are from Glamour Boutique and can be found under the make-up section of our page at http://www.glamourboutique.com/makeup.aspx.

Smudger Brush
This brush has a small sponge at the end which is used for smoothing your eyeliner so it doesn't look like a blunt line. The smudger brush is also used for applying eye shadow. You will find many different shapes and sizes in eye shadow brushes. The larger ones are better for applying eye shadow.

Eye Shadow Brush
Use this brush to apply and blend in your eye shadow. This can also be used to apply shadow to the brow bone. This is a smaller eye shadow brush, but they come in many sizes. This size is good if you are applying multiple colors.

Flat Eye Liner Brush
This brush has a very fine tip allowing for easy application of liquid or gel eyeliner. This brush is precise enough to dip into any powdered color to be used to line the eye as well.

Pointy Eye Brow Brush
This brush is used to fill in any gaps that you may have in your eyebrow. The bristles are stiff allowing you to control where you apply the wax or powder to your brow.  An eyebrow wax works
best for filling in the eyebrow. You can then use this same brush in an eyebrow powder and go over the entire brow for a more natural look.

Eye Brow Comb
Use this to shape your eyebrows. The side with the bristles are used to brush the hairs on your eye brows straight up. After you brush your brows upward you now want to use the comb part of the brush to comb them to the side. You can also use this to comb your eyelashes.

Powder Brush
You use this to apply your bronzer or setting powder. Dip this brush into your bronzer or your powder and shake off any excess before applying to face. It is a soft and full brush allowing for a light and even application.

Blush Brush
You use this to sweep blush across your cheek bones. Use an upward stroke on your cheekbones going up towards your hairline. Blend well.

 Lip Brush
This  brush has a very tiny point at the end which is used to apply your lipstick or lip gloss, and has a small enough point to also line your lips.

Foundation Sponge
Use this sponge to apply foundation and beard cover to your face. Use the pointy side for around the eyes, and brow bone and the flat sides for the rest of the face.

Need a starter Make-Up Brush Kit? This kit includes all of the brushes mentioned in this article (minus the foundation sponge which can be purchased separately). If you have any questions on the uses of these brushes please don't hesitate to comment below. Thank you for stopping in!

Smaller Features with Larger Accessories for Cross Dressers

Everyone has certain features that they wish they could make disappear, but let's face it, they aren't going anywhere without extensive surgery. So, let's take a more practical approach by using our accessories to our advantage. This is going to give you a more feminine look by minimizing those larger features with your larger accessories.

Reduce the appearance of large hands with over-sized rings and stretch bracelets
Our antique stretch rings are a great way to take the attention off of your large hands. They are over-sized to give the appearance of a more petite hand, and are made with a stretchy elastic to fit any sized fingers. Wear multiple rings at a time to really take the attention off of the size of your hands. Add a stretch bracelet and a bangle cuff to really complete the look. Not only will this look really minimize larger hands but it also is a great fashion statement.

Tips on How to Care for your Wig

A small amount of time at regular intervals spent maintaining your wig will pay big dividends in the short and long-term. Not only will the hair piece look better but correct care will ensure you make your investment last for a long time. Follow these tips on how to care for your wig to keep your hairpiece in great condition.

STEP 1 : Brush your wig

Make sure all knots and tangles are GENTLY brushed out. To do this you start brushing a section at a time from the bottom of the wig to the top. Always brush the wig just before wearing and again when you have finished before storing on a wig head or inside a hair net. The hair net will stop the hair piece from tangling when being stored. Always brush your wig with a wire wig brush .

YES                                                                                                                   NO

Never use a regular hair brush with the small bobbles on the end, as this will pull on the hair strands too roughly and result in hair loss for your wig.

STEP 2: Wash your wig

1. Pour a small amount of wig shampoo (1-2 cap-fulls)  in a sink filled with cool water.
2. Soak the hairpiece in the cool water for   5-10 minutes.
3. Dump the soapy water out and refill with clean, cool water
4. Swish wig around the cool water to ensure all soap is out.
5. Take your clean wig out of the sink

STEP 3: Condition your wig

1. Fill sink again with cool water

 2. Add 1-2 cap-fulls of wig conditioner
 3. Swish the wig around the conditioned water to ensure it soaks into entire wig
 4. Remove wig from wink and rinse completely in clean, cool water
5. BLOT your wig dry with a clean, soft towel. Do not rub hard.
6. Hang your wig to dry - preferably on a wig stand.

STEP 4: Styling your wig

1. If you have a Styrofoam Wig Head then place your wig on here to make styling easier.
2. When caring for your wig only use a metal pick comb or your finger to separate the wig strands, from the tips of the hair to the crown.
3. If you want to use a flat iron or curling iron on your wig then make sure that it is curling iron friendly and/or has Kanekalon Heat Resisting Fiber. On our particular wigs, you will see an image like the photo below in the description. Examples of such wigs are, the Angel Wig and the GB1 Wig.

 4.  Remember: Be Gentle!

Regular brushing and correct storage will eliminate knots and tangling. If keeping your wigs on  a stand when not being used, remember to place in a hair net before storing in a box. Only wash when your hair piece needs it. Constant washing will eventually lead to the hair color becoming a little dull, even with the better quality wigs. Follow these steps and you will extend the life of your hair piece.

Tokoyo's Inspirational Cross Dresser

Hideaki Kobayashi gives a whole new meaning to "being yourself". This brave man decided to make a bold move and dress as a school girl, because this is what makes him feel most comfortable. Despite Japan's strict beliefs in conformity, Kobayashi proudly struts his stuff around the streets of Tokyo.

Kobayashi is truly an inspiration to many. He does not feel the need to be passable as a female but instead only dresses from the shoulders down, leaving his face alone as a male. He has long white hair and a beard that really make him stand out. He has become quite popular on the streets of Tokyo, taking pictures with the locals.

This middle-aged man dresses as a school girl because this is what makes him happy. He does not worry about how people may react, but instead expresses his beliefs through his clothing. He is a hero to many and sets a great example to follow your heart and do what makes you happy. I believe if more people would follow Kobayashi's footsteps they would live a more fulfilling and healthy life.

Always be true to who you are, no matter what that may be.

Tips on Sizing for Cross Dressers- Part II

Welcome back friends!

Shopping for ladies clothing can be very exhilarating but also very frustrating. We suggest starting off with clothing that is made to fit the male form particularly well. In Part I of sizing for cross dressers I discussed sizing for dresses, skirts, and breast forms.
Today I am going to give you a few tips on sizing for shoes, and hosiery. Shopping at a store like Glamour Boutique really makes dressing fun and exciting. Our shoe sizes go up to women's size 16 (17 in a select few) and we also have shoes that are made just for the male foot. This takes away the anxiety of not being able to find your size. Our corsets and dresses are also made to fit the male form, offering options for longer torsos and larger sizes.

TIPS ON SIZING FOR SHOES

Typically you want to go up 2 sizes in a closed toe shoe, flat or  boot. For example:
    Male Size 10 =  Women's Size 12

Five Inch Stiletto Sandal
If you are looking for an open toed shoe you can get away with only going up 1.5 sizes. So if you are a 10.5 you can choose a women's size 12. For example:
    Male Size 10.5 = Women's size 12
Our Mens Shoe Selection offers boots, heels, and flats as does the women's  shoes, only they are specially made for the male foot. They are wider, and larger than a women's shoe. If you are choosing  one of these you would go with your regular shoe size.

TIPS ON SIZING FOR HOSIERY

Wearing hosiery is a must to feel feminine and sexy. It offers the best of both worlds because you can wear it under your trousers or pair it with a corset, both allowing you to feel sensual and ladylike.

Sizing for hosiery is tricky because every manufacturer is different. So I am going to give you an idea of the sizing for 3 manufacturer's that we use that seem to be very popular.

I have linked the model number to our website so when you are shopping online you can come back to this sizing chart to find your correct size. This is a general chart to help you get an idea of what size you will be in the different types of hosiery.

Panty Hose- Model #'s:  1988, 1901, 9015, 1766, 2350, 9112, 1000, 1001
