5 Items for Outfits when Cross Dressing for Valentines

Valentines is always a great excuse to dress a little over the top and go extra frilly and girlie even if that is not your usual style. There are many parties you may be lucky enough to attend or you may just be alone at home having a very romantic evening for 2 so what to wear to inspire the goddess of love in you?

As with all things crossdressing start with thinking about time of day and occasion for which you are going to dress. You can obviously dress more glamour for parties and evening time than you may want to for a lunchtime date in the middle of the day. Daytime wear outside should be a little more subtle in choice of outfit.

Whats’s you favorite attire for Valentine’s Day? Here we list 5 garments that can form the basis of a great little outfit for your Valentines depending on the occasion and/or the time of day.

1 Little Pink Dress

What could be easier as the basis of a great outfit for evening party attire than a pink or red dress like our Little Cotton Candy Dress with a short hem to set the admirers pulses racing. Going for a lunch/daytime date then wear a shade like Ivory but accessorize with pink or red to stay in theme without screaming ‘Valentines’. Look to accessorize with some white or pink pumps, maybe a wide cinching belt to match the shoes and some oversize earrings and you have a classy cocktail dress look.

2 Corset and Petticoat

You’ve been invited to a theme party/fancy dress so what to wear? For Valentine’s just about anything goes with of course lots of pink and red and you can go crazy with hair and makeup colors and even hosiery, frills and bows. Look to your wardrobe first to see what you can make use of before spending on a whole new outfit. Already own a corset? Then simply match with a skirt or better yet a simple chiffon petticoat which you can acquire from as little as $17.95 from and you have a very cute costume that will be sure to turn heads.

3 Lovers Lingerie

You can use sexy sleepwear for dressing to Valentines parties and the great thing is you don’t have to do much when you get home to go to bed! Spending the night in with that special person in your life? Then what say’s ‘amour’ more than silky or frilly lingerie and seductive hosiery available in a myriad of colors to match your mood?

Robes, gowns, bustieres or baby dolls will all get the heart racing of any admirer and can be paired with matching or contrasting stay-up stockings. For thigh-highs and stay-ups make sure to get the ones with an extra wide silicone top so they stay in place all night and you don’t have to keep pulling them up.

4 High Heel Pumps

They may not be the most comfortable but who can resist a seductive pair of high heels on Valentines? They not only scream femininity but they actually do feminize the shape of a leg and your stance or posture. Standing and walking in heels will define your calf to give your whole legs the more ideal feminine shape.

If you are a novice then start off with a 3 inch block heel which will not only be more comfortable to walk in but much more stable. Make sure to practice by taking small steps and placing one foot in front of the other until you master your feminine walk.  If you are a ‘pro’ then try a 4 or 5 inch stiletto heel – this does take some getting used to if you are new but the appearance you gain is very sexy.
Think about what you are wearing and either match or contrast with your main outfit. Wearing predominantly pink then maybe go for a white high heel pump with matching accessories. Don’t forget about open toe shoes, especially with lingerie – who doesn’t love a fluffy pair of mules to parade around the boudoir just before playtime?

5 Garter Belts and Hosiery

What screams old fashioned romance more than garterbelts and sexy hosiery? Not much in our opinion. Whether you use as a main feature of your outfit or leave subtly hidden showing just a tease of the top of a stocking or the back-seam, most admirers go crazy for hosiery. You can match your undergarments to your outfit or contrast them. Take the traditional garterbelt pictured – it is plain black but is accented with pink bows and stitching and you can contrast with pink stockings and panties.

Remember to wear not only under costumes, dresses and skirts but expecially under your lingerie. Your special person will appreciate peeling back the layers as you frolic on Valentines.

There you have it – a few ideas to inspire you and your girlfriends this Valentines. Whether you are going out to a party or staying in with friends, this is one of the biggest dates in the calendar for crossdressers so make sure you enjoy yourself and look your very best.

Happy Valentines girls!

5 Fashion Tips for CD/TG with Broad Shoulders

As a cross dresser, certain features can be more difficult to hide than others.  The majority of cross dressers have an inverted triangle body type, which means your shoulders are broader than the rest of your body. One of the 'basic' foundations for a cross dresser is a good pair of breast forms to give a proportional look and to help draw focus from broader shoulders. But what else can we do to help off-set such a typically male facet? Good news is that shoulders are actually fairly easy to hide  if you know what to wear and more importantly what not to wear.

Certain style outfits will do the opposite of what you want, and actually accentuate your broad shoulders. While other outfits will help minimize them, making you look more petite. Next time you are out shopping keep these few fashion tips in mind and experiment with trying on different neck lines, jackets, and skirts. You will be pleasantly surprised the difference it will make when you start shopping for your body type.

By the way, Inverted Triangle is the second best female body shape!

Do's and Don'ts for Broad Shoulders

1. Vertical Stripes vs. Horizontal Stripes

Avoid horizontal stripes at all costs. Whether it is a dress or blouse, avoid it. Horizontal stripes will make you look wider than you really are.
Vertical stripes do just the opposite, elongating your torso, in return making your shoulders look more narrow than they are.

2. V-Neck instead of Spaghetti Straps
Spaghetti strap tank tops basically yell, “Hey look at my shoulders!” So, if you are trying to hide your broad shoulders you want to disguise or cover them with proper garments and definitely do not want to expose them with a spaghetti strap.
Instead, wear a narrow V-neck top. These will help elongate the neck and put the focus on your chest rather than your shoulders.
 3. Drapey NOT Tight
Avoid tight tops as they will make your broad shoulders and neck stick out like a sore thumb.
Instead, where tops that drape nicely over your shoulders and arms. Soft, flowing tops are also a great way to hide larger biceps. It is also a way to keep up with the new trends. Looser shirts that leave more to the imagination are now sexier than tight tops that show it all.
4. Long Jacket/Blazer INSTEAD of Short
Avoid blazers and jackets that are fitted and waist length. This will shorten your torso and draw more attention to your shoulders. Fitted blazers will clearly define your shoulders as well. Also, avoid jackets that have shoulder pads or any design to the shoulders. This will also make them stand out.
Choose a blazer that goes past your hips. The length shown below under DO, is a perfect example of the type of jacket you should be aiming for. This will make your torso look lean and long rather than short and stump.

5. Skirts that Flare
Avoid fitted skirts- they will make your waist and hips appear tiny but will give the opposite effect to your shoulders, making you appear more top heavy.
You want to wear a skirt that takes attention away from your upper body, creating a nice balance. Wear skirts that flare out or create definition and curves around your lower half. This will help to make your upper body appear more narrow.
If you have nice long legs then stick to shorts skirts like the skater skirt shown below. This elongate your frame and draw attention to your legs rather than your top half.

If you are a mix between an inverted triangle body type and another, read the article below for more fashion advice on choosing the most flattering outfits for your shape.

Common Cross Dressing Mistakes and How to Fix Them

Since there is no encyclopedia to cross dressing, it can become difficult to perfect your feminine look without doing hours of research or hours of trial and error. This can be especially challenging if you are trying to pass in public. There are a few common mistakes cross dressers tend to make when dressing that can be easily fixed with a few minor changes to your femme routine. A few of these mistakes are of course made by females as well, but fixing these as a cross dresser may make all the difference in being able to pass.

1.      Not using Proper Skin Care

Since male skin tends to be rougher than female skin it is very important to take the proper care when it comes to your face. First, make sure you use a gentle face cleanser. Do not use body soap. Your face is more sensitive than the rest of your body, so you need to use a cleanser made specifically for your face. Try to only wash your face once a day, if you wash it more than that it will strip your face of its natural moisture. Rinsing with some cold water will do just fine for the morning. Avoid hot water as it will dry out your skin. Always use a face moisturizer after washing your face at night.

2.     Clumpy mascara

This is a common problem for most people. If your mascara comes out clumpy, quickly wipe the mascara off of your brush with a paper towel and go over your eyelashes with the clean brush to remove any clumps. Do this as soon as you realize your mascara is clumpy, as it dries quickly. If your mascara clumps often, it may be worth getting a separate eyelash brush for de-clumping.

3.     Choosing the Wrong Color Wig

This is a common mistake of cross dressers as well as women. Choosing the wrong color wig is just as bad as women who color their hair the wrong color. You want a color that compliments your face well. When choosing a wig color you want to stay as close to your natural hair color as possible. You can go a little lighter or darker but don’t do the opposite of your hair color as this may make you look washed-out and will not appear natural. If your natural hair color is dirty blonde than you can either go with a blonde or brown wig. If your natural hair color is black, choose a dark color like brown or auburn.

4. Applying Full Coverage Make-up to your Entire Face

Only apply full coverage foundation to the areas where you really need the coverage, like over your beard or any blemishes you may have. Try to apply a lighter foundation where you can. You don’t want your make-up to look like it is caked on, which is a common mistake, but instead want a nice natural appearance with as little foundation as you can pull off. Another helpful tip many forget is to use the lighter foundation to blend in your neck so that there is no obvious cut-off point.

5.   Male body language

A male’s body language is very different than a female's. When a man sits down they tend to be more relaxed, sprawling out their legs, and relaxing their shoulder and back. When a women sits down, she typically will cross her legs or sit with her knees together. When a man walks down the street they tend to slouch over instead of standing up tall. Your body language can be a dead give- away that you are a male so make sure you sit and stand nice and tall, and never slouch. This will also help your confidence as a woman. Mastering walking in high heels will also help your feminine appearance. Try wearing a corset to improve posture as well. When you wear a steel-boned corset it naturally improves posture so you sit and stand taller so that you appear more serene and feminine.

6 Steps to Irresistable Lips for CD/TG

Do you wonder how other girls manage to cultivate a truly sexy finish to their 'look' with their lips when you get frustrated at your own messy attempts? The good news for cross dressers is that lips are one of the easier aspects of a makeover to push the envelope as part of your feminine transformation; all that's needed are a few simple steps to ensure your lips 'pop' and give you that all important confident, sexy look that will be admired by others.

1.   White Teeth
Most people forget this but it is actually one of the most important components of having sexy looking lips. Make sure you brush often and try some whitening remedies if you have particularly stained teeth. The whiter, the more irresistible lips you will have.

2.       Moisten Lips

You do not want your lips to crack when you put on your lipstick so applying a cream will ensure your lips are nice and moisturized looking perfect throughout your day. Lipstick tends to dehydrate your lips and lip balm will act as a barrier to your lipstick so a little cream will go a long way.

3. Highlight your Lips

Add a little concealer or white liner to the outer parts of your lips. Do this lightly though, if you are using white and press to hard it will be too blunt of a line. This will create a border around your lips allowing them to really pop. You can also add concealer to your actual lips to make the lipstick last longer, just make sure you moisturize before so they are not too dry. This works best if you are using a moisturizing lipstick or gloss rather than a matte.

4. Line Lips

You always want to line your lips before applying a lipstick. If you are going out to an event and know you wont be able to re-apply lipstick much than choose a lip liner close to your lip color. This will help to avoid having a ring of liner around your lips when your lipstick wears off. If you are wearing a darker color than you will need to match your lip liner to your lipstick or gloss so going with a 2-in-1 as pictured below may be helpful to make sure the colors match.

Line the outer edges of your lips, not your actual lips- this will help to make them look more full. The picture below will give you some guidance.

5. Apply Lipstick

Having sexy lips often involves a bold color lip stick or gloss. If you have plump lips go with a dark matte color. For tiny lips, go with something light colored and shiny. If you have a hard time applying lipstick evenly than use a lipstick brush. Don't just go for classic red, try other color for different occasions and different times of the day. Look for lipstick packs that have different color or shades and experiment when practicing your make-up.

6. Get rid of the Excess
If you are wondering why you always have lipstick on your teeth it is because you forgot to dab! It is important to do this once right after applying lipstick and then once right before going out to ensure that there is no lipstick on your teeth. Just take a tissue and smack your lips together to get off any excess. It is always handy to keep a little compact mirror in your purse to keep an eye on those teeth!
