This will also help you feel more feminine and confident, as others will see you as being up to date on the hottest styles. Also part of the fun of being a female is shopping so why not choose what is really popular right now. Below I share some of the latest trends for tops and skirts as well as some affordable look-alike purses to keep you up to date on the trendy designer handbags for spring 2015.

Sheer tops have always been a hot commodity, and for good reasons too. The sheer fabric is very sexy and not to mention super comfy. They really are the perfect top for a night out at the club when you aren't afraid to show some skin.

The maxi skirt is very popular this Spring and there are so many cute ways to wear one. You can go casual and wear a printed tee shirt, go for a sexier look and wear a crop top, or go for a comfy look and wear an over sized graphic tee shirt that hangs over your skirt. All of these are in style and look great. We offer maxi skirts in grey, ivory, and purple.

Updating your handbag is essential. There are different types of handbags for different occasions, just like outfits. If you are like many of the cross dressers we know, you have several different style handbags. The most popular purses for Spring are: Cross body, tote, and bucket bags

There is no need to spend a fortune on a handbag. Below are some look-alike bags that you can purchase from that are just as cute as the expensive designer bags!
Kohls $47.00

Kohls $55.30

Kohls $27.99

Strangely enough metallic is trending this Spring. So pull out your shiniest shoes, leggings, and skirts, and wear them proudly because they are the new hot item. If you don't have any metallic try our shiny silver metallic dress which is great for cross dressers because of the form fitting stretch material.

A Cross Dresser's Moment of Self Discovery- Shannon's Story

Everyone has their own story and journey. Here at Glamour Boutique we love hearing from our friends and customers on their own personal ventures as a cross dresser. Some people dress only in their homes, others go out and are very comfortable in doing so, some get to dress very often, and others only a few times a year. Throughout each individual's story there is a moment of self discovery and we love when we get to hear that from our customers. It will always be a work in progress and we hope that hearing other cross dressers stories will help you along the way and will show you that everyone has struggles of their own, whether it is how to walk like a female, doing make-up, or just fitting in. Shannon kindly shares her story below.

-Shannon Freeland's Story-

Hi all – I’m Shannon, and I’m thrilled to be here on the pages of!  I first started dressing at an office Halloween party years ago (yes, Halloween – we all have those stories, don’t we?). A friend applied the makeup early that morning. We paraded around the lobby, and the looks I received amazed me.  I felt so free and wonderful as my outer self was revealing my inner self – a real moment of personal discovery.

I am unable to apply makeup myself.  Each time I dress, I go to a professional for my makeup.  I hope to take lessons soon, so I won’t be as dependent.
My makeup artist does a phenomenal job though, and I wouldn't be Shannon without her.  She wants to help me to learn, and I will welcome that assistance. One of my challenges as a cross dresser is buying clothes but I think I have figured out my method. To avoid awkward stares or rude comments by salespeople, I usually show them some photos first, to establish some credibility.  Once they’re aboard, they’re excited to help me and I actually have fun!

Shannon as Ariel for Halloween
My own personal growth and confidence in being Shannon has come from where I can reveal myself in this way.  In the past, it was only during Halloween.  Then it blossomed into going to special events.  Still, there was something lacking – I wanted to “blend in” with the crowd.  For me, this has meant being at restaurants frequented by typical folks, not catering to any particular type.  When I get the smiles, or even no reaction (better than scorn, wouldn't you say?), I feel like I’m fitting in, and that’s the best feeling in the world.

While I always feel like Shannon, I am not Shannon all the time -- maybe once a month or so.  Recently, I went to one restaurant where the waiter has only known me as my male self for years.  He was thrilled to see the transformation – in fact, when he set the plate down, what excitement when he said, “For the lady.”  I loved that!  Here’s a fascinating piece of psychology for you. One day I was walking through a mall as my male self.  As a lady passed me, I thought, “She doesn't realize I’m in disguise!”  I was shocked to hear that inner voice, as I felt, YES, THIS (the male clothes and face) is the costume – Shannon is not.   A total reversal.  The everyday look is the disguise.  How many of you feel that?  Many of you, I would guess.

I found my best makeup artist just over a year ago, and she developed my “essence” as Shannon – she even suggested that my hair be red, which shocked me but I’m so happy I listened!!  When I first saw myself in the mirror, I cried.  I saw my mother’s face in me for the first time of my life.  I did not see my face looking back at me – a brand new person emerged. It changed me.  THEN . . . after taking the makeup off that night, the following day I cried for over an hour.  Deep sobs.

I do not wish to be an “ordinary” person –I want to feel extraordinary. At that moment I felt that the pumpkin had dropped off Cinderella, and all was gone forever.  But this fairy tale has a happy ending, for me and I know, for you.  My makeup artist has stayed with me ever since, and she creates Shannon for me.  I will learn.  Please know that YOU, too, through the marvelous products and advice offered by, you can be the amazing person you’re meant to be too.
Happy dressing!!

We hope you enjoyed Shannon's story and encourage you to share your own experiences or thoughts below. We all have our moment of self discovery. In Shannon's case her real moment was when her make-up artist transformed her into a beautiful woman, and of course when she realized that her male self was her real disguise. When you have these eye opening moments it is like your whole world shifts and you finally feel whole.

What was your moment of self discovery?

St. Patrick's Day Accessory and Outfit Idea's for Cross Dressers

St. Patrick's Day is a great excuse to dress in your cutest green outfit, drink green beer, and head to a parade with friends. This is a great time to go out en femme, especially if it is your first time. Similar to Halloween, most people get dressed up for parades or bar crawls so it is a perfect time explore your femininity with some green accessories, maybe a green wig, and
some fun eyelashes.

Here are some ideas for your St. Patrick's Day outfit if you are going out en femme and are still struggling with what to wear. Most of these you can purchase at or a local party store. To the left is a picture of our friend, Kim Rydick in one of our green under bust corset's which is perfect for your St. Patty's Day outfit!

Add some cute green bow ties to your stockings or to your hair. Kim also added some bangle cuffs which is a great accessory for this outfit, and you can buy them in gold as well if that goes better with your outfit.

Petticoats are also a great addition to your St. Patty's Day outfit rather than just a skirt. You can really wear any color petticoat if you are matching it with a green corset or green top. However if you want a green one you can find it at a local party store.

Also consider adding some party lashes instead of your regular black ones and a fun ring like the gold spike stretch ring below. This adds a fun look for the festivities.

Another fun tip is adding some green highlights to your hair which can be done with some green Koolaid which will wash out the same night. You can also get a green wig from your local party store rather than wearing your same old wig, it is fun to change it up for the holiday.

I had to let you in on these neon green leggings I came across. These are PERFECT for a St. Patrick's Day outfit. I spotted them on Pinterest but can be bought on

I hope some of these St. Patrick's Day outfits can be of use to you. I hope everyone has a safe and fun day/night out!

Cross Dressing Tips when Shopping for Women's Clothing
As a cross dresser, shopping for women's clothing should be a fun and exhilarating process, and it will be as long as you prepare yourself in advance and do the proper research on the best shopping method for you. This is why I am going to share some advice on the many ways you can buy women's clothing as a cross dresser and how you can be prepared in doing so.

A big part of shopping for women's clothing is knowing your size ahead of time. This will save a ton of time and frustration and will also make it easier for you to shop online. You should also know the many ways in which you can shop for women's clothing and which suits you the best.

Stores Catering to Cross Dressers
If you are just beginning you may want to shop at a clothing store that caters to cross dressers. There are many reason for this, the first being that they carry women's clothing that are actually made to fit the male figure. The types of fabrics and styles chosen will flatter your broader shoulders and size, which will give you a curvier look, in the end giving you a more feminine appearance.

Another positive aspect of shopping at a cross dressing store is that they will have everything you need- padding, breast forms, corsets, etc. You will also be able to speak with someone who can make you feel comfortable on the beginning steps of your journey.

Cross dressing clothing stores like will offer full discretion if you visit or shipping out your package if you purchase online. Such specialist stores will give you live support  7 days a week on making sure you get your correct size. This is defiantly something to keep in mind when choosing how you will do your shopping. Places like Glamour Boutique in New Jersey also invite you to visit their showroom where you can explore you femininity by trying on heels, corsets, wigs, and breast forms to see what you really like.

Shopping in Clothing Stores
Many prefer to shop in women's clothing stores because of the variety and style that is offered. Also, because it is a lot of fun to get all dressed up, and go out shopping for your new clothes.

If you fear going into the store for the chance that the sales representative will approach you asking you for help, you may want to try stores like Kohl's, Marshals, Target, and thrift stores. This way you can still get the stylish brands you desire with the freedom of browsing on your own without a female sales rep constantly asking if you need anything. The mall is not the best place to shop because of the large crowds and sales rep who may follow you around asking if you need help. That is the last thing you need when you already stressed about shopping in a women's store. If in doubt call the store ahead and ask them do they cater to transgendered and cross dressers. More and more forward-thinking retailers like Dress Barn do and they will explain how they can help.

If you have struggled with the fear that someone may see you then venture to a new town. Another thing to keep in mind is the time of day you go shopping. You may want to choose a day and time when the stores will be less crowded, for instance, 8:30 a.m. on a Tuesday morning.

Online Shopping
Another great way for cross dressers to shop for women's clothing is online. This is ideal for many because you avoid the face to face interaction, and the chance of seeing someone you may know. You just want to make sure that you know your size in advance because chances are you won't be able to get a hold of someone to ask what size you should be in women's clothing.
It is best to shop at an actual store online like Old Navy or Kohls, rather than  an online shopping site like Amazon or eBay. Actual stores usually offer size charts on their web sites which will be your new best friend. Measure your bust, waist, hips, etc so you have accurate sizes when referring to the sizing charts.

Another thing to keep in mind when ordering online is how your package will be shipped. Of course the specialist crossdresser services like go to great lengths to make packages look as discreet as possible with no identifying marks on the package mailed. But big box retailers will not understand your need for discretion so do plan in advance for that. If you are worried that someone in your household may see the package coming in the mail and be suspicious then having it shipped to a P.O. Box is your best bet.

I hope these shopping tips will help you when deciding on how you prefer to buy your women's clothing. If you have tips of your own please share them in the comment section below!
