Cross Dressing Tips when Shopping for Women's Clothing
As a cross dresser, shopping for women's clothing should be a fun and exhilarating process, and it will be as long as you prepare yourself in advance and do the proper research on the best shopping method for you. This is why I am going to share some advice on the many ways you can buy women's clothing as a cross dresser and how you can be prepared in doing so.

A big part of shopping for women's clothing is knowing your size ahead of time. This will save a ton of time and frustration and will also make it easier for you to shop online. You should also know the many ways in which you can shop for women's clothing and which suits you the best.

Stores Catering to Cross Dressers
If you are just beginning you may want to shop at a clothing store that caters to cross dressers. There are many reason for this, the first being that they carry women's clothing that are actually made to fit the male figure. The types of fabrics and styles chosen will flatter your broader shoulders and size, which will give you a curvier look, in the end giving you a more feminine appearance.

Another positive aspect of shopping at a cross dressing store is that they will have everything you need- padding, breast forms, corsets, etc. You will also be able to speak with someone who can make you feel comfortable on the beginning steps of your journey.

Cross dressing clothing stores like will offer full discretion if you visit or shipping out your package if you purchase online. Such specialist stores will give you live support  7 days a week on making sure you get your correct size. This is defiantly something to keep in mind when choosing how you will do your shopping. Places like Glamour Boutique in New Jersey also invite you to visit their showroom where you can explore you femininity by trying on heels, corsets, wigs, and breast forms to see what you really like.

Shopping in Clothing Stores
Many prefer to shop in women's clothing stores because of the variety and style that is offered. Also, because it is a lot of fun to get all dressed up, and go out shopping for your new clothes.

If you fear going into the store for the chance that the sales representative will approach you asking you for help, you may want to try stores like Kohl's, Marshals, Target, and thrift stores. This way you can still get the stylish brands you desire with the freedom of browsing on your own without a female sales rep constantly asking if you need anything. The mall is not the best place to shop because of the large crowds and sales rep who may follow you around asking if you need help. That is the last thing you need when you already stressed about shopping in a women's store. If in doubt call the store ahead and ask them do they cater to transgendered and cross dressers. More and more forward-thinking retailers like Dress Barn do and they will explain how they can help.

If you have struggled with the fear that someone may see you then venture to a new town. Another thing to keep in mind is the time of day you go shopping. You may want to choose a day and time when the stores will be less crowded, for instance, 8:30 a.m. on a Tuesday morning.

Online Shopping
Another great way for cross dressers to shop for women's clothing is online. This is ideal for many because you avoid the face to face interaction, and the chance of seeing someone you may know. You just want to make sure that you know your size in advance because chances are you won't be able to get a hold of someone to ask what size you should be in women's clothing.
It is best to shop at an actual store online like Old Navy or Kohls, rather than  an online shopping site like Amazon or eBay. Actual stores usually offer size charts on their web sites which will be your new best friend. Measure your bust, waist, hips, etc so you have accurate sizes when referring to the sizing charts.

Another thing to keep in mind when ordering online is how your package will be shipped. Of course the specialist crossdresser services like go to great lengths to make packages look as discreet as possible with no identifying marks on the package mailed. But big box retailers will not understand your need for discretion so do plan in advance for that. If you are worried that someone in your household may see the package coming in the mail and be suspicious then having it shipped to a P.O. Box is your best bet.

I hope these shopping tips will help you when deciding on how you prefer to buy your women's clothing. If you have tips of your own please share them in the comment section below!

  1. When I don't feel up to shopping in stores en femme, I go to Kohl's, pick out items, and take them into the men's dressing room to try them on. Nobody notices or cares what I'm bringing in. Then, I simply walk back across the store and re-rack the items I don't want.

  2. Yes Kohl's is such a great place to do your shopping in peace... No one bothers you or follows you around the store. Definitely an ideal shopping experience.
